Eat your heart out, Heidi Klum!!
Whilst 'Mr. Grumpypants' rambles on elsewhere, I'm going to write about interesting
things, like what's going on in our part of the world. Again the topical stuff will
be at the top. Makes sense, really ....
2nd. May, 2010
It's VERY rare that I get a chance to use the Internet, because Grumpton tends to hog 'his' pooter to
the extent I don't often get on. However, I HAVE to write this, 'cos I'm still on a high after the show
today. Meka qualified for Crufts by winning her class, and I got to show her in the line up for the Challenge
Certificate. OK, she was up against some class acts who have already won a few CC's (two of them champions),
but I felt so proud I couldn't stop grinning. And then I was honoured when our friend Angela invited Meka and me
to join her three dogs in the Breeders competition. There were others bred by her at the show, but she chose Meka, so
that blew my chest up even more. I can't describe the buzz I got from today, but I want more of it!! Even
Grumpton was smiling, and for once HE didn't moan about anything for a few hours, so that was an added bonus!!
April 2010
I have just been (not very tactfully) reminded by 'Grumpypants' that it's time I updated this page. Shopping and
knitting indeed!! I'm surprised he didn't mention about me watching the Shopping Channels as well!!
I mentioned he was clumsy didn't I? Well, for once it was my turn, and I managed to break my right wrist
two days before we had to move out of our old house. Lots of packing still to do, and me one handed!!
Denis had to do most of the rest of the packing himself, and boy did he make me know about it ....
I still drive back to Manchester on occasion to do a few shifts at the hospital, and on those occasions I stay
at my daughter's house. God knows what HE gets up to while I'm away, but in fairness he seems to have done a lot
around the house when I get back. He's still far from being domesticised though - that takes years of practice!
Since we moved, we have realised we should have done it years ago. We couldn't ever go back to urban living, even
after such a short time. Mid-Wales is our home now, and will continue to be so. From every window of the house we
can see rolling hillsides, dotted with sheep and the odd farm. Our nearest neighbour is some 400 yards away. We can
let the dogs out into the garden for the whole day, and they don't annoy anyone if they bark occasionally. We can hand
feed the pheasants, and relax in front of a roaring log fire in the evenings should the mood take us.
August 2009
I have been retired for about three months now, and I'm going stir crazy!! There's
only so many times you can watch the pap that is daytime TV before you want to
chuck the iron through the telly!! So, I've decided to go back part time, mainly to
preserve my sanity, but also to try and bring in a bit of cash whilst Denis looks
for another job.
Did I tell you he's the clumsiest thing on two legs? Whenever we put up our caravan awning,
you can guarantee he will crack his head. Two weeks ago, he tripped and went face first
outside the caravan. And now the dozy sod has hurt both his thumbs!! I'm thinking of buying
him one of those Sumo suits - not because they are fun, but to protect him.
