Stafford and District Canine Society
Open Show, Saturday 26th. September, 2009

I would like to sincerely thank the committee of the society for allowing me this opportunity to judge Rough Collies today. My thanks also go to the exhibitors for their confidence in entering under me. A well organized show, a more than adequately sized ring, and an excellent steward made my task a lot easier. All entries were of a high standard, well presented, and moved well on a good surface. It was also great to see all exhibits with clean teeth!!

Junior

1. Milligan's Alfsden Hallelujah
An upstanding 9 month old Tri boy of good size who showed with a maturity far beyond his age. Magnificent coat well presented, well proportioned head, correct bite, well positioned ears, and a very sweet eye. Lovely length of neck, and a full white ruff. Angulation appealed to me, good, deep ribcage, and plenty of power in the thighs. Moved effortlessly, and oozed confidence, making it all look so easy. A class act, and one to watch for in the future! This boy went on to get Best Puppy, Best Of Breed, Group 3 and Puppy Group 2.

2. Boyle's Carristina Radiant Sunrise Over Barrenclough
This 11 month old sable has done a lot of winning, and on any other day would probably have won this class too. Presented beautifully, and was elegant in the ring. Well carried head and ears on a good length of neck, with a pleasing top line. Well sprung ribcage and superb rear angulation. Plenty of drive from correctly muscled rear quarters. In my opinion didn’t move quite as well as I’ve seen her do before, but elegant nonetheless.

3. Abbott's Cotswoldway Moonshine

Post Graduate

1. Boyle's Uffspring Unchained Melody Over Barrenclough
Again superbly presented 14 month old sable bitch. Good wedge shaped head, correct ear positioning and carriage. Elegant well proportioned neck above strong forelegs. Stood 4 square all the time. Rear quarters of good power, and confident movement round the ring

2. Boyle's Uffspring Utterly In My Soul Over Barrencloughl

Litter brother to my first place. Everything about his sister applies to him, except that in my opinion he doesn’t seem to quite have the confidence and pazazz that his sister has. That may change in the future, but on the day he had to give best to her.

1. Boyle's Uffspring Unchained Melody Over Barrenclough

2. Milligan's Neneland Natural Spirit At Alfsden
7 year old blue merle bitch who hasn’t shown for some time owing to maternity duties. Possibly a little ring rusty, but still knew what to do. Good markings to coat, and as with all exhibits, nicely presented. Nice head, good reach of neck, well defined ears, and appealing eyes. Good deep ribcage, firm brisket and a lovely length of stifle gave her a well balanced appearance. I felt the muscle tone was not at its absolute best, but I’m sure that will return soon. Should give a very good account of herself in Veteran classes in the future.
